Using AI Wisely in Our Walk with Christ
In a rapidly changing world, it’s important to help our congregation stay both grounded in truth and equipped for the future. One of the most powerful tools emerging today is artificial intelligence (AI). While AI is often talked about in business and science, it can also be a blessing — when used with discernment — in our daily walk with God.
📖 Using AI to Deepen Bible Study
AI tools can offer helpful support for personal and group Bible study:
Quick Cross-Referencing: AI-powered platforms can instantly pull related passages, giving broader biblical context.
Language Helps: Tools like ChatGPT can explain Greek or Hebrew words, explore multiple translations, or summarize commentaries.
Study Questions: You can ask AI to generate reflection questions or create devotionals based on a passage.
Sermon and Lesson Prep: Teachers and preachers can brainstorm outlines, illustrations, and historical context.
We encourage you to try AI tools as companions to your Bible reading — not replacements for prayer, reflection, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
🛡️ Guarding Your Heart and Mind Online
With all the benefits of AI and digital tools come serious risks. Content online can quickly shift from helpful to harmful. As shepherds of this flock, we encourage you to:
Use Filters and Accountability Software: Programs like Covenant Eyes, Canopy, or built-in parental controls can help limit exposure to unwanted content.
Set Screen Time Limits: Even good content can become a distraction from what matters most.
Pray Before You Browse: Ask the Lord to guard your eyes and guide your time online.
Use AI with Purpose: Don’t aimlessly scroll or chat. Use it intentionally — for study, creation, or support.
💬 A Final Word
Technology is a tool — it can build up or tear down, depending on how it’s used. Let’s be wise, thoughtful, and rooted in the Word as we explore these tools. If you ever need help setting up safe browsing tools or want to learn more about using AI for study, reach out to one of us. We’re walking this road with you.
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”— Ephesians 5:15–16
